A CA is required to advise the company on matters concerned with finance and taxation. A CS is required to act as the compliance officer for the company exams. CA exams are conducted every year in the month of May and November. CS exams are conducted every year in the month of June and December. To summarize, CA is more selective as it includes various subjects; whereas CS is more global as people at ICSI (Institute of Company Secretaries of India) understand the value of soft skills along with the technical skills. A CA stands for Chartered Accountant while CS stands for Company Secretary. The CA Foundation Course is complete 5 years coaching program ,is the entrance level for the chartered accountancy course offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of (ICAI)India. Earlier, it was known as the Common Proficiency Test. Foundation Course for Company Secretary (CS) is an eight months duration course which is the first level study on the path of becoming a Company Secretary. The course provided by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a mixture of postal tuition and optional coaching classes. Foundation programme has been introduced for Senior Secondary (10+2 or its equivalent) pass students desirous of a making career as Company Secretary. The programme offers an opportunity to the students passing the Senior Secondary or its equivalent examination in any stream or who have appeared or enrolled themselves for appearing in the examination, to decide their career at that stage and to enter early in the profession.
